Red House Fireplace

Red House is the redevelopment of a Georgian house in Saxmundham, Suffolk for the artist Ryan Gander. The project removes a number of existing level changes, creating level access while opening up and reconnecting the principal living spaces. The works include the restoration of a Grade II listed 18th Century drawing room, with oak parquet flooring and new timber panelling. A new brick fireplace was added, based on a design by Josef Albers originally produced in 1905 for Round House, North Haven, Connecticut, and reproduced by the Gander family with the assistance of The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation.
